Ride. See. Learn. An Unforgettable Experience.

The best way to see all that Bendigo has to offer. Hop on the Bendigo Talking Tram right down the road from the Oval Motel!

Here for a day or two? This is a must.

Take a ride on a beautifully refurbished Bendigo Talking Tram and see the sites of historic Bendigo.

The Vintage Talking Tram runs multiple times daily and tells stories of Bendigo’s rich history.

You’ll pass prominent landmarks including the Alexandra Fountain and the Sacred Heart Cathedral.

What To Expect

Expect to be entertained and the hour to go quick!

If you have kids under two they’re likely to be a bit startled when the tram starts.

Our granddaughter was nearly two when she had her first ride on the tram. She was a bit shocked for the first few minutes...then she loved everything about it.

When you board the tram, sit on the left hand side. The audio recording will talk about the landmarks on the left so you’ll have the best vantage point 😉.

Once you settle in, it’s a very relaxing and therapeutic ride. There are some amazing things to see along the way and the sites are augmented with a narration of Bendigo’s history.

Passing another tram. A rare moment. The other driver looks pretty happy about it though :)

How Long Does It Take?

A round trip on the Bendigo Talking Tram takes approximately one hour.

If you want to stop along the way you can easily turn this into a half day out. It’s by far the best way to see what Bendigo has to offer.

You’ll find an up-to-date timetable on the Bendigo Tramways Website.

Lake Weeroona is a gorgeous spot to hop off the tram and have a look around.

There’s plenty to do:

  • Have a coffee overlooking the water at the Boardwalk Cafe

  • Take a stroll around the lake. It’s 1.2 KM around and it’ll take you about 20-minutes

  • Got kids? Check out the playground. It’s huge. Might want to set a time limit or you’ll miss your tram on its way back through :)

Your Final Stop : The Bendigo Joss House

An important part of Bendigo history and architecture, the Bendigo Joss House is the final stop.

This is where the tram turns around to make its return journey.
